PROJECT 2
"USM BOOK STOP"
we have been given the task to make a fixed construction of a book stop inside USM, Penang. This project actually was the same as the Dangauan project last semester. But the site analysis was not conducted in a big group, it is individual.
I have chosen Tapak convex as my proposed site for this project due to the nature element that can be seen clearly there. and fyi, i've found this little brown decidious falling leaf on the ground and the shape of that leaf has influenced me about the idea of a leafy structure.
that just how i got the ideas in designing a book stop.
want me to explain the concept of it? yeah ofcourse right.
Firstly, the petiole or the vein of the leaf shows the strength of how that leaf can be stable and provides shape to the leaf and that imitates the post and beam.
Next, the layer of the leaf itself is waxy and waterproof, so i decided to use pvc as the roofing material as relation to that leaf.
lastly, i've used concrete as the walls of the bookstop to make a strong structure.
i've named it "querencia".
and..... tarammmm that is the why.
